The band’s performance at Red Rocks Amphitheatre has evolved into a yearly tradition not only for their members but also for the people of Colorado, and it will be another insane experience not just for those who continue the practice but also for new people interested in joining! From Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado, the progressive rock and psychedelia band is a homegrown and beloved talent of the state. It is composed of multi-instrumentalist members, namely Michael Kang on violin, electric guitar, and acoustic and electric mandolin; Michael Travis on drums and percussion; Bill Nershi on acoustic guitar, electric slide guitar, and lap steel guitar; Kyle Hollingsworth on accordion, piano, organ, and Rhodes; and its newest member, Jason Hann on auxiliary percussion since 2004. The band has enjoyed more than three decades of a memorable music career, and the unique elements of their shows have made them easily recognizable by fans and casual listeners alike. They have produced eleven albums that have truly taken people to Orion’s Belt.
Opening for String Cheese Incident is Clay Street Unit, another band made in Colorado. The band’s leader, Sam Walker, shares, "Whenever we're onstage, we're just trying to throw a party," He continues, “Life's hard enough already. We want to remind people to let loose, love each other, and enjoy themselves.” Their full-length album Sin & Squalor was recorded in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and reflects American roots music. Their sound mixes the genres of bluegrass, Americana, country, and folk, making them the perfect supporting act for this concert.
