Emerging from Little Rock, Arkansas, Evanescence became the figurehead in goth rock as they came out with the triumphant single, “Bring Me to Llife,” in 2003. The song mixes nu metal with syphonic elements, and Amy Lee’s haunting yet powerful vocals. The band has been credited for popularizing female fronted gothic rock. Evanescence has won two Grammy Awards within the course of their two decade career.
Spiritbox became the biggest breakout among female fronted metal bands in the last few years. Hailing from Canada, the band made great strides with their debut album Eternal Blue, which went to number 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The band later dropped their latest EP, The Fear of the Fear which spawned two phenomenal hits, “Jaded” and “Cellar Door,” two singles that would later earn Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance at the Grammy Awards. They would later add another Grammy nod in the same category for the hit song, “Soft Spine,” spawned from their sophomore album, Tsunami Sea.
The Nova Twins comprise Amy Love and Georgia South, who rose to prominence with the releas of their sophomore album Supernova. The effort would later earn several accolades, including nominations at the Brit Awards and be in the running for a Mercury Prize.
